KICKFLIP
The kickflip is considered the most difficult, basic trick. It combines the ollie with the skateboard doing a barrel roll, where it just rotates on an axis that goes across length ways. It rotates counter clockwise when looking from behind if you're goofy, and clockwise if you're regular. Once the kickflip is learned, a lot more difficult tricks that combine the kickflip with other rotations become possible to learn. The stance of this trick, is similar to an ollie, but the front foot is usually closer to the heel edge of the board and is at more of an angle. Most people have their foot at a 45 degree angle, but it all depends on personal preference.

POP-SHOVIT
  • 1) Start off with your feet placed correctly on your board.
  • 2) Cruise at a comfortable speed, its about the same as an ollie except you rotate your body inward.
  • 3) As you ollie up kick your back foot behind you and you board will rotate inward.
  • 4) Keep your shoulders and body straight, don't turn.
  • 5) As the board rises up jump up with the board, the harder you pop the higher your board will.
  • 6) Land Square on your board and ride away with a smile.

    OLLIE
  • 1) Push at a comfortable speed, remember the faster you go the better the pop.
  • 2) Place your front foot near the middle of your board, about two inches under your bolts. Put your back foot on the tail.
  • 3) Squat, so you can spring yourself up.
  • 4) Kick your back foot down so you can pop as you jump up, your front foot should rub upward on your griptape.
  • 5) Make sure you tuck your knees to your chest, picking up your back foot as well to level the board at a good height. REMEMBER you are jumping forward.
  • 6) Then come down comfortably, both feet on the board. It will look better if both your feet are over the bolts as well as lessen the stress of impact
  • 7) Finally bend your legs as you touch down to give it that smooth style and roll away stocked.

    360 FLIP

    BACKSIDE LIPSLIDE
  • 1) Put in your favorite ACDC tape to pump up the session.
  • 2) Don't try this trick until you have first learned to do backside 50-50's, frontside boardslides, and backside 180's.
  • 3) Approach the ledge or rail like you are about to do a backside 50-50.
  • 4) A Start winding up your shoulders like you do when you do a bakside 180 and as you clear the top of the ledge or rail use the wind-up to turn about 90 degrees into the backside lipslide position.
  • 5) Now slide! The faster you go the further you'll slide but if you are on a rail or a box you need to keep most of your weight on your backfoot to get a good slide.
  • 6) To come out, if on a rail, you just need to turn out like any other boarslide. On a ledge or box, however, you must put pressure on your tail to "pop" off the ledge, especially if it is a ledge with no end.

  • Varial Heelflip
Ok, you can do this trick both Frontside and backside. This trick tip is directed to doing the trick Frontside because it's easier. You might want to get pretty good at doing a Heelflip before trying this trick. You might also want to learn how to do a Frontside pop-shove-it, but that's not all that necessary.
Anyways, here's how to do it:

    1. place your back foot as a Frontside pop-shove-it, and your front foot just like a Heelflip.
    2. pop the board as a Frontside shove-it, and in the middle of the process
slide your front foot off, causing the board to spin, like a Heelflip.
    3. keep your feet in the air, so the board can get its spin (the higher you
pop this trick the better. If it's higher, the board has more time to spin.)
    4. after the board is done spinning, land on it

This trick is pretty hard, but its worth it, because it'll impress friends, and it looks really cool.

    Varial Kickflip
The Varial Flip is a combination of the kickflip and B/S Pop Shove-It. It is crucial that you have these tricks on lock before attempting to learn Varial Flips.
Put your feet in the same way you would to kickflip. Don't put your back foot where you would for a pop-shove-it, the board usually spins that part by itself. Try to spin the board a kickflip pop shove-it. Jump to the side and keep the board under your feet at all times. When you see that the board has completed its rotation, stomp it and roll out.

If it doesn't spin the pop shove-it, then put your foot where you would for a pop shove-it. If the kickflip doesn't spin quick enough then you need to put it in closer to the middle of the board. Always have balance when taking off or you will never land it. The most common problem is that the board ends up landing a foot in front of you. To solve this problem you need to jump the same way the board does. You have to visualize where the board is going to land. Always have balance when taking off and always have the board under your feet. If the board is just plain spinning to slow then you need to move at a comfortable speed until the spin gets closer to completion.
Commitment is very crucial in landing this trick. You may find yourself opening your legs to avoid the board when you're about to land. This is because you are afraid of falling. The only way to conquer the fear is to practice, and tell yourself nothing bad will happen.
Once you have learned Varial Flips, you should move on to Heel Varials. Also, you can learn 360 Pop Shove-Its and give 360 Flips a shot.
